The construction work often includes a huge health risk that is mostly overlooked. Despite the necessity of safety training, sometimes the project deadlines and liquefication make it challenging for the construction supervisors to cut down on the safety training period. Hence, the health risk becomes one of the largest factors that makes it so dangerous.

Fatal injuries during construction have been reported in most statistical records in 2018. Hence, the Occupational Safety and Health Act (1970) has provided the workers with the right to a safer workplace. OHS also makes provisions for the Construction Industry Safety Training and provides information to prevent workplace injuries.

Potential Hazards In Construction

  • Heavy objects falling on the workers
  • Dangerous chemical exposure

There have been terrible accidents that have also caused the worker's deaths. Hence, if you do not provide the necessary construction industry safety training, you drive a threat to someone's life!

 

It becomes essential to understand the gravity of the situation where someone's life is involved. They are working for the people to build something that will benefit the entire society. Providing a safe work environment is the least we can do for these industrial construction workers. Moreover, providing the correct training will also reduce much of your construction costs. When you follow the instructions mandated by OHS, you do not have to fear litigation costs; you will have a massive reduction in insured losses and will have fewer fees to pay the attorneys.

Even if the deadlines are close for your project, it is incredibly unprofessional if you have to skip the training course. It would help if you kept in mind that many workers are not adequately trained or do not have prior experience. Whenever an emergency arises, they are most likely to give in to their instincts and may try to escape in the wrong way, thereby causing more threats to other's lives too! Hence, whenever you have any construction project, you should check out OHS's guidelines online and make it mandatory for all the workers to attend construction safety courses before they can start working.
